My first exposure to photography was a small Hanimex which was given to me as a Christmas present in 1982. Then, in 1985, I put my camera aside for my first home computer, a 64K Sharp MZ-721, and began writing computer programs at 14. Come, 1989, I then began a Computer Science degree, and with that a traineeship developing software in the retail banking sector. I reaquainted myself with photography in 1991, when I bought a Canon Sureshot Joy, a must have on my first solo overseas trip - visiting Birmingham, London, Hanover and Berlin. Ah enter an insatiable desire to travel!

Upon completing my degree and heading down the path of a professional software developer in industries from steel manufacturing thru to insurance, I came to learn about the internet and web development in 1997, while working in the UK. At the turn of the millennium, while on a work trip to San Francisco, I upgraded my camera to digital with the purchase of a 2.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot. It was about this time I was building web sites for Australia's largest online media company, ninemsn, and then later, after relocating to London, began working on Windows Live for Microsoft.
So there have been 3 themes in my life: Photography, Technology, and Travel. I guess you could say this wandering geek has always had a creative streak. In everything I have done, whether it be cutting software, taking pictures, or writing about my travels, the underlying two things which drive me are the desire to learn about new things and to create. I'm at my best when I'm doing both of these things.
With the onset of the digital media age then, and the merging of photography with technology, it was hardly surprising that in 2005, on a visit to Seattle, I decided to up the ante with my digital camera technology and buy a Canon EOS 20D SLR. I love taking photographs whether they'd be of landscapes, wildlife or people and I wanted to make my pictures the best they could be. I have had the opportunity to visit many incredible places worldwide to practice photography from my home country of Australia to far afield as Argentina, Norway, and Tanzania.

And so I have put my technology expertise to some personal use and built this web-site to really show-case my photography - much of which has been taken on my many travels. I hope you enjoy the site, and if you like it drop me a line, and even better why not purchase a print. Oh, and my camera of choice nowadays is a Canon EOS 5D Mark II SLR.

"While a difficult climb, the views offered of the glacier and Cerro Torre were astounding. The ice-blue vista offset by the autumn colour fest of the beech trees was truly stunning."
